LYNCHBURG, Va.- Travis Brown (Portsmouth, Va./Woodrow Wilson) scored the game's only goal and the Randolph men's soccer team kept visiting Emory and Henry off the board as the WildCats won by the score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at WildCat Stadium. The victory halts Randolph's five-game winless streak and evens its overall record at 7-7 and improves its ODAC record to 2-4. Emory and Henry falls to 4-10-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the conference.

The Wasps threatened early in the first half with a pair of corner kicks but could not covert on the opportunities. The 'Cats had three shots in the first 18 minutes that were off frame. In the 28th minute, Frankie DiOrio's (Bristow, Va./Patriot) shot deflected off E&H keeper Samuel Irvin's glove and bounced off of the crossbar. The ball came back to Brown who took the rebound and deposited it in for the score.

The WildCats nearly had their second goal of the game close to seven and a half minutes into the second half but Brown's header went off the post and a second try went high over the crossbar. The Wasps almost had the game-tying goal in the 60th minute but Andrew Kincaid's shot bounced off the crossbar.

Randolph continued to attack in the second half but Irvin would deny the WildCats' opportunities with three saves. The Wasps had a last chance of tying the game up with less than five minutes to go in regulation as Jordan Couch had an open look at the net but his shot sailed high.

The WildCats led in total shots 14-3 with half of their attempts coming on goal. Erick Cortez-Martinez (Winston-Salem, N.C/North Forsyth) picked up the win in the net as he had one save. Irvin finished with six saves.

Randolph travels to Roanoke on Wednesday to take on the Maroons. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
