High SOS Highlights Men's Soccer 2017 Schedule

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College men's soccer team released its 2017 schedule on Wednesday, and as always, it will be one of the toughest in the country.  Four opponents made the 2016 Division III NCAA Tournament (and all four won at least one game) and another was one of the last teams left out.

Strength of schedule is one of the largest factors in making the NCAA tournament.  The WildCats always play one of the most difficult schedules and this year will be no different.

The WildCats begin the demanding schedule in Alabama.  Birmingham-Southern College will host the two-day BSC Puma Labor Day Classic on September 1 and 2.  Randolph will look to take down the two Southern Athletic Association (SAA) schools (the other being the University of the South) like it did last year at the Tiger/WildCat Classic.  Game times are 7:30 p.m. on day one and 3 p.m. on day two.

The 'Cats then will host Hood College in the home opener on September 6 at 6 p.m.  That contest will be followed by a difficult classic the weekend of September 9 and 10.  Washington and Lee University will host it, and the WildCats will play Franklin & Marshall University and Emory University during the two days.  F&M made the Elite Eight last season, while Emory was ranked regionally and just missed the tournament.

Randolph returns home for four-straight after that tournament.  York (Pa.) College kicks off the streak on September 16, and the following game will be a nonconference tilt against an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent.  Hampden-Sydney College comes to Rivermont Avenue on September 19, but it will not count as a conference game.  The ODAC opener will be against Eastern Mennonite University on September 23, which comes before another NCAA tournament participant travels to town.  The WildCats will square off with Christopher Newport University on September 27 in their last nonconference game of the year.

Only three of the final eight games will be at home during the 2017 season, with the October 4 matchup being of important note.  W&L will be the 'Cats foe that day.  The Generals were another NCAA tournament team.  One week later, the WildCats will make the short trip across town to take on Lynchburg College.  LC won the ODAC title last year and complete the list of NCAA tournament teams Randolph plays.

The WildCats finish their home slate against Bridgewater College on October 21 and play its season finale the following Tuesday at Guilford College.
