Seahawks Best WildCats, 17-3, in Men’s Lacrosse Action

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team fell to visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland, 17-3, on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference play. 

Randolph managed to get on the scoreboard at the 8:12 mark in the first quarter as Matthew Piascik (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) scored off a feed from teammate Gage Tutko (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) but the Seahawks were able to shut out the WildCats, 3-0, in the second stanza to bring their lead to 9-1 at halftime. 

Tutko and Brett Pausic (Saluda, Va./Christchurch) each added a goal for Randolph in the third quarter to make it a 13-3 game before the Seahawks once again shut out the WildCats, scoring four consecutive goals in the final period, to seal the 17-3 win. 

Pausic fired off five shots with three on target while Zach Early (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) tallied four shots and caused one turnover for Randolph. In addition to his lone goal for the game, Tutko also recorded two assists. Prince Charles (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) picked up five ground balls and won 8-of-17 face-offs while Alejandro Castillo (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) won 5-of-7 face-offs and scooped up three ground balls. Corey Boswell (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) took the loss between the pipes, facing 37 shots and making 13 stops. 

The WildCats drop to 2-3 and open conference play on Saturday, March 16 when they host Hampden-Sydney College at 1 p.m. at WildCat Stadium.
