GREENSBORO, N.C. – Brett Pausic (Saluda, Va./Christchurch) scored four of six goals for the Randolph College men's lacrosse team as the WildCats ultimately fell to host and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Guilford College on Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers completely shut out the WildCats, 7-0, in the first quarter and managed to extend its lead to a comfortable 11-0 margin with 10:06 remaining in the second quarter. The WildCats were finally able to land on the scoreboard as Kadri Hearns (Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth) took advantage of being a man-up to record Randolph's first goal of the game. However, the Quakers would eventually lead, 13-1, at halftime.
Although Guilford notched the first two goals of the third quarter, Zach Early (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) found the stick of Pausic to decrease the deficit to 13-2, before Pausic added his second goal off of a feed from Dylan Bragg at the 4:14 mark.
In the final quarter, Pausic tallied back-to-back goals before Hearns was able to find the back of the net for Randolph's sixth and final goal of the game.
Pausic and Hearns each fired off five shots for Randolph while Prince Charles (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) fired off six shots and scooped up nine ground balls. Matt Lindenbaum (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) picked up the loss in goal, making seven stops. James Stumpo (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) and Corey Boswell (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) both saw playing time in the crease as Stumpo stopped four shots between the pipes while Boswell had one save.
The WildCats drop to 0-13, 0-6 ODAC and are back home on Wednesday, April 18 when they host Lynchburg College at 7 p.m.
