ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team fell to host St. Mary's College (Md.), 14-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Although the WildCats were able to keep it an even game for part of the first quarter, the host Seahawks finally broke open the scoring at the 10:25 mark before notching their second goal minutes later to take an early 2-0 lead. St. Mary's continued to dominate throughout the second quarter, firing off five consecutive goals for a 7-0 advantage at halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Seahawks extended its lead to a comfortable 12-0 margin before securing their 14 goals early on in the fourth quarter. Randolph finally managed to land on the scoreboard as Kadri Hearns (Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth) launched the ball to the back of the net for an unassisted goal at the 9:03 mark before Josh Yeast (Chesapeake, Va./Norfolk Academy scored the WildCats' second goal off a feed from teammate Brett Pausic (Saluda, Va./Christchurch) in the final 30 seconds of the game.
Hearns fired off four shots for the WildCats while Pausic tallied three shots. Prince Charles (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) scooped up three ground balls and won 6-of-10 faceoffs. Matt Lindenbaum (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) earned the loss in crease as the senior goalkeeper faced 30 shots and made 16 saves. James Stumpo (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) also earned time in goal for the WildCats, making four stops.
The WildCats drop to 0-3 on the season and look to bounce back when they travel to Methodist University on Wednesday, March 7 for a 2 p.m. contest.
