Men's Lacrosse to Host Important Contest as Well as Return to the Road
LYNCHBURG, VA – After playing two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) games last week, the Randolph College men's lacrosse team will play its final nonconference game before returning to the conference to end the week. The home game will provide special importance.
On Tuesday, the WildCats (4-9 overall, 0-6 ODAC) host Methodist University (12-3) at 5 p.m. Last year the two teams had an entertaining game that ended with a Shane Soghomonian goal at the buzzer for the win. The Monarchs will be looking for revenge. However, the big thing that will be going on outside the lines is that the 'Cats will be wearing yellow shoelaces. It is part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiative to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. SAAC and Randolph athletics has been partnering with Go 4 The Goal, where $4 of every pair of yellow shoelaces goes to supporting families battling the disease. After that event, Randolph will return to ODAC play on Saturday. The WildCats will make the furthest conference trip of the year, taking on Virginia Wesleyan College (2-10, 0-5). The two teams have had similar score lines against common opponents throughout the year. Both were able to take down Greensboro College in home games. The Marlins won by seven, while the 'Cats had an 11-point victory. It should be a close game as both teams will battle for their first ODAC win of the year. The game begins at 1 p.m.
