KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday announced the sixth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards. The Randolph men's basketball team was one of the teams honored. This is the second straight year that the WildCats have earned this distinction.
The Team Academic Excellence Awards were created by the NABC Committee on Academics to honor outstanding academic achievement. Teams are honored for having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better during the entire 2017-2018 academic year. The 'Cats were one of 184 teams (out of over 1,200 teams spanning NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA) honored this year.
"I'm proud of the way our guys have worked collectively and individually off the court," said head coach Pete Hamilton. "Our staff aims to set high standards in many aspects of our players' lives and academics is at the top of the list. A credit to our upperclassmen for taking the lead in giving a helping hand and offering advice to our new guys all year. We are honored to represent our program, Randolph College and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on the NABC Team Academic Excellence list."
